Making our services accessible

Accessing CARA services

CARA seeks to be an inclusive organisation that actively encourages, supports and values diversity amongst both our service-users and our workers.  We try to make our services accessible to everyone.

  • Most of our services can be provided  either remotely, by telephone or video link or face-to-face,  depending on what works best for you.   Please tell us what you prefer when you first contact us..

  • Our face-to-face services can be provided in ground floor, accessible rooms, and our rooms can be adapted to accommodate your individual needs.  Just let us know what you need to be in place when you first contact us.

  • Interpreters or translation services can be provided for people whose first language is not English, and for people who are  deaf or hearing impaired.  Please let us know if you need an interpreter or translation services in place.

  • Our website includes BrowseAloud.  BrowseAloud helps website visitors who require online reading support and those who simply prefer to listen to information instead of reading it. BrowseAloud is particularly useful for those with print disabilities such as dyslexia or mild visual impairments and those with English as a second language.  To use BrowseAloud, click on the orange 'Speak' button at the top of the page.

  • Our workers represent a range of backgrounds and experiences.  Most are women, but you can request support from a male counsellor if you prefer.

You can read more about the work that CARA is doing to open up as a service-provider to people from diverse backgrounds here.
