The 2.6 Challenge


On Sunday 26th April, the UK will take part in The 2.6 Challenge to come together and help save UK charities.


The Covid-19 pandemic has had a devastating effect on charities, with the cancellation of thousands of events and the loss of billions in fundraising income. It will continue to impact on charity finances and any support you can give is hugely appreciated.


The idea behind the 2.6 Challenge is simple; all you need to do is think up an activity based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 that suits your skills and complete it on Sunday 26 April – the date when the 40th London Marathon would have taken place.


People of all ages are taking part! It could be something as simple as pledging to run or ride 2.6 miles as your daily exercise, holding the plank for 2.6 minutes, gardening for 26 minutes, hold an online exercise class with 26 friends, hula hoop 26 times….or for 26 minutes?!  The opportunities are endless, and the only requirement is that you must follow Government guidelines on exercise and social distancing.

There are just five simple steps to take if you’d like to get involved:

  1. Dream up your 2.6 challenge – there are lots of challenge ideas on the 2.6 Challenge website;
  2. Head to to set up a fundraising page (Simply click ‘get involved’, select Virgin Money Giving and search for CARA)
  3. Ask all your friends and family to sponsor you and challenge them to do their own 2.6 Challenge
  4. Complete your challenge
  5. Share a photo or video of your challenge on social media with #TwoPointSixChallenge and tagging @CARAEssex
