Highlights from the CARA Conference 2019

28/11/2019

It was great to see so many delegates at the CARA conference – Changing the Culture by Listening to Survivors. The day was a huge success and was attended by 146 professionals from various organisations across Essex and beyond.

We collected 83 feedback forms which showed that:

  • 98% of delegates found the conference useful, with 57% finding it extremely useful.
  • 94% of delegates felt the conference would help them to support victims and survivors of sexual violence better with 52% feeling it would help them to support them much better.

Quotes included

"Amazing conference. Educational and practical with dignity and respect."

"Brilliant conference highlighting issues with justice and funding for support for survivors, hearing about survivor's journeys with CARA and a compelling case for more funding and support for survivors."

“Made me think about things I didn't know I needed to think about.”

“I really enjoyed using lived experiences of violence to exact change with communities.”

“The speakers were passionate and knowledgeable about the subject”

“Fabulous conference as difficult subject. Shocking low numbers of convictions for rape.”
