Self-Care Tips

Siobhan gives us some ideas to ensure we make time for ourselves.

Me time:

Sometimes it can be really difficult in life to either find time for ourselves or to want to make time for ourselves. However, in order for us to be able to achieve what we need to within the day, it is extremely important to look after ourselves first if we want to support others.

Even if it means taking a moment within the day to acknowledge our emotional, physical, and health needs, it is to benefit our overall wellbeing. It can be really difficult to get into the swing of things, especially when it involves caring for ourselves so it may be useful to introduce small amounts of me time at first to avoid those unnecessary feelings of guilt.

Time factor:

If you are short on time, look at things that will be more achievable whether it be spending an extra 5 minutes in the bath with some bubble bath, or while cooking dinner try playing your favourite tunes and busting our some dance moves. These are just a couple of things that are good for our emotional and physical wellbeing and they don't take up much time.

Plan ahead:

Take an hour or two out of your week to do something just for you! Go for a walk, go and get pampered, treat yourself to a cake and a coffee in a cafe.

If you have some extra time, plan a day out and think about what your needs are. Do you need to go somewhere where you can have a good old giggle or do you need peace and nature to practice some mindfulness?

Last but not least; make it happen:

The temptation to put it off may be high, however once you have had some you time, you will feel better within yourself. The more you invest time in yourself, the easier it will become!
