Self-Care Tips

 

Maria gives us some tips on how to rest our eyes.

 

This last year for many of us has opened our eyes to new possibilities of communicating! Yes video-Zoom-What App! 

 

However, the pressure and strain on our eyes may have got taken for granted, as our eyes are our body’s most highly developed sensory organs, a far larger part of the brain is dedicated to vision than to hearing, taste, touch, or smell combined.  

 

So here is a tried and tested technique for giving those valuable assets a break. Obviously do not try this whilst driving! 

 

If you are at your desk or a table, use that to prop your elbows and cover your eyes with the palms of your hands.  

 

Block out any light by cupping them around your eye sockets, you may have your eyes open or close them whilst doing this.  

 

When you begin just think black, black, black, say it in your mind until it gets blackest black.  

 

Start off doing this for a few seconds, building up you may even feel the pressure that your eyes have been experiencing.  

 

Now knowing you can take special care will be helpful the next time you make that video call, read that book, drive that car.
