Self-Care Tips

Bobby talks us through Reflexology and how to incorporate this into our self-care

Life over the past year has been a challenge for a lot of people. It has been a time of learning new ways of working and living for many people. Sometimes we can be so consumed and busy with managing our daily lives that we forget to stop and rest and to take time to just ‘be’. This would be my top self care tip ever! Take time to just sit and be, not feel you have to ‘do’ all the time. We also forget to give ourselves some much needed attention, and one of my favourite ways of doing this is some wonderful stress-relieving hand reflexology. You can do this at your desk, or better still at home when you are relaxing, it only needs to take a few minutes, and the benefits will be long lasting.

Reflexology Self Hand Treatment for Stress Reduction

Work Both Hands – one at a time using your left hand to work the reflexes on your right hand and vice versa

Use your thumb to press all along the light purple dotted line – (imagine the tip of your thumb as a caterpillar walking along it). Repeat this three times. (This is your diaphragm reflex)

Use your thumb to make firm circular movements in the palm of your other hand – shown by the dark purple dot. Take 3 deep, slow, mindful breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth as you do this. (This is your solar plexus reflex)

Gently press with your thumb and rotate it on the soft area between your thumb and forefinger – shown by the green dot. (This is your adrenal reflex)

Use your thumb to firmly ‘walk’ down the side of the thumb and along the base of the palm. Repeat this 3 times – shown by the pink dotted line. (This is your spinal reflex)

Press and rotate the tip of the thumb – shown by the grey dot. (This is your pituitary reflex)

Now swap hands and repeat the above.

Remember to breathe, relax and enjoy
