Are you a current or ex CARA service user? Would you like to influence CARA’s services and strategy, including how we develop as an organisation in the future, or work with other service users on campaigns, fundraising or other activities?
The CARA Service-user forum offers current and ex-service-users the opportunity to:
- Influence CARA’s services and strategy, including how we develop as an organisation in the future.
- Work with other service-users on campaigns, fundraising or other activities.
- Take part in surveys, research projects and consultations at a local and national level, representing the voice of victims and survivors.
- Take part in occasional events, presentations or press and media work, talking about the experiences of victims and survivors, or about CARA’s work.
- Support CARA staff in organising and running events.
There is no minimum level of involvement, forum members can get involved with as many or as few of these activities as they wish and can be involved in different ways, including:
- Joining our online Forum meetings every two months,
- Being part of our Whatsapp group.
- Being on our Service-user Forum e-mailing list.

Current and ex-service-users of all ages, all genders and all backgrounds are very warmly invited to join the forum. The CARA Service-user Forum is a safe and inclusive environment, where the input of all service-users is respected and valued.

Some of the forum's acheivements in 2022 have included:
- Moving towards a service-user led forum, with a forum member as Chair and others contributing to planning and running meetings.
- A forum member joining the CARA Board of Trustees.
-Forum members planning and leading awareness-raising and fundraising activities, including a Car Boot Sale.
- Forum members playing a central role in our Reclaim the Night March, including by making a powerful speech.
- Forum members contributing to our animated videos for schools project, Understanding Young People's Experiences of Sexual Harm: Supporting Students.
- Forum members taking part in research interviews, surveys and consultations, representing the perspective of victims and survivors.
